Bedside Pendants

The Story

A minimalistic, abstract sculptural bedside light evokes tranquility and warmth for this collaborative project with Intérieur London and talented kiln-formed sculptural glass artist, Kira Phoenix K’Inan.

For a luxury private residence in South Kensington, this bedside pendant was conceived as a sculptural source of light that would sit quietly within the refined palette of the master bedroom. The client wanted to introduce soft, powdery blues that complemented the surrounding textiles and finishes, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, serene and distinctly residential.

The design is defined by a continuous sweep of metalwork, seamlessly mounted between wall and ceiling. Its elongated curvature gives the pendant an elegant architectural presence while allowing the illuminated glass to appear almost suspended beside the bed. A warm-white, fully dimmable LED source is discreetly integrated into the fitting, producing a gentle ambient glow rather than direct task lighting.

At the heart of the piece is a series of bespoke kiln-formed glass elements, developed in collaboration with London-based glass artist Kira Phoenix K’Inan. Extensive testing and experimentation were undertaken to achieve the desired depth, translucency and colour. The finished glass reveals hazy, dappled layers of pale blue, punctuated by tiny bubbles and subtle variations created through the forming process. When illuminated, these details become more pronounced, giving the glass an almost aqueous quality and ensuring that each element has its own character.

The resulting pendant brings together art, craft and ambient lighting in a single bespoke object. By day, the softly coloured glass provides a delicate sculptural focal point; by night, warm light passes through its cool blue layers to create an intimate, diffused glow. The contrast between the fluid glass, precise metalwork and understated bedroom interior gives the piece a sense of quiet luxury perfectly suited to its South Kensington setting.
